Shop the House of Mary B., the Country store, Arrow Rock Antiques, Friends of Arrow Rock, L & L, the River Bank and the Hodgepodge, in addition to various visiting artists throughout the summer and fall. Food establishments, from fine dining to sandwiches and ice cream, include the Hodgepodge, Arrow Rock Station and Arrow Rock Historic Tavern.
We are Biker Friendly! The Katy Trail State Park (pictured above) is nearby for biking/hiking. Consider a side trip to Arrow Rock, either by car or bike. For a small fee, we offer pick up / drop off for bikers traveling the Katy Trail from Booneville, Rocheport, or Pilot Grove depots. A tandem bicycle is available for guests on a first-come, first serve basis (the ride downhill is exciting, but you may have to push it uphill!) Recreation & Activities: An integral part of this historic town is Arrow Rock State Historic Site. The site’s visitor center museum has exhibits of the “Boone’s Lick Country.” The museum is open daily in the summer; Spring, fall and winter as posted. The hills and valleys around Arrow Rock make a beautiful park-like setting. The streets and trails are great for walking/hiking. There are numerous hiking / jogging trails. Enjoy the Lewis & Clark Trail of Discovery, part of the Jameson Island Unit of the Big Muddy National Fish and Wildlife Refuge. The Lewis and Clark Trail of Discovery is an all-weather, one mile long trail to the Missouri River. The trail leads the hiker along an old levee through the forest with views of beaver activity. Waterfowl are occasionally seen, and deer and turkey are common. The trail is almost completely level and benches are provided for resting and enjoying the refuge. You can access the trail from the parking lot of the Jameson Island unit or from the Arrow Rock Landing trail in Arrow Rock. Maps are provided at both entrances. The shelter house in the park available for picnics. Playground equipment in park. Don't miss the view from the overlook in this area.
Walking tours of the historic buildings, such as the restored George Caleb Bingham house, Huston Tavern, stone jail and others in Arrow Rock are provided at scheduled times through the Friends of Arrow Rock office. Quilt Camp (May, 2008) watercolor workshop (July, 2007), Blue Grass Festival (September, 2007) and other events as advertised. Recommended Local Best Kept Secret: Don’t miss unique, one of a kind items at the Craft Club on Main Street.
